WHAT A FIGURE!

I picked up a few more plastic action figures at today's car boot sale.

All cheap as chips as well. I spent a grand total of £2.20.

From left to right we have a Burger King [BK] Batman, BK Dr. X [update: this is a GI Joe Dr. Mindbender], two BK Action Men, an unknown blue commando from 2005 [update: this is a Lanard the Corps SAS Diver] , a BK Action Man astronaut and a green Monster in my Pocket.

Next to that is an interesting plastic pteranodon, which comes in half to reveal a small paper leaflet explaining the wing span. No idea of the make or year. Could be a pencil attachment too. Do you know?

Perhaps the most interesting plastic figures are three brown thinnish ones from New Zealand front left. No idea what they are. Have you?

[update: these 3 figures are cereal premiums from 1962 issued in New Zealand's Sanitarium cereals]

The 20p in the £2.20 went on the only die-cast I got. A lovely 1970 Hot Wheels Redline Side Kick from 1970. Car boots are full  of diecast but this is the first redline I've seen for at least 2 years.

Finally I got this little female figure holding a parcel or pack of books. Maybe a schoolgirl. Anyone any clue?

Have you been car booting today?

The three brown figures from New Zealand might be cereal toys. I have a farmer or miner figure in orange plastic, which is very similar, this is 64 mm tall. Only half round, with very shallow details ? The figure in the centre looks like a 19th Century soldier, and the one on the right could be a Maori. Mine is unmarked - do yours have NZ or New Zealand on them ? I think my figure dates from the 1960s, not sure about yours.

    1. Thanks Paul. You're right. I did a bit of digging today and they appear to be cereal toys from 1962 by Sanitarium, possibly Weet Bix. I have to thank Hugh's Small Scale World blog for helping me ID these flattish figures,https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BeyPaRTblFY/WUfwQMuBJ9I/AAAAAAAARDo/4pzPsWeWWN8WUbszKSXDXJGVKOKvFM6EwCLcBGAs/s1600/1%2BSanitarium%2BMaori%2B%2526%2BColonial%2BSettlers%2BNew%2BZealand%2BCereal%2BPremiums%2BDSCN9140.JPG which lead me to https://collections.tepapa.govt.nz/object/1315747 and there's even a book on the subject of NZ cereal toys! https://www.thecollectingbug.com/nzpackaging~nzcerealitems~cereal01/item?0

Good job finding the details of these figures. The only example I have is the third figure in the top row, the man in a hat holding what appears to be a hammer. Mine is orange rather than blue, although he needed a dip in Dettol to get rid of some old paint. The Museum of NZ lists him as a Miner of the Otago Goldrush, released in 1962. Not sure how I came to have him, as I was only one at the time he was released. I will send you a photo of mine at the weekend.

Yes, still making cereals and other types of food such as Marmite spread. Not sure if any cereals still have give-away toys and cards, or if it is all computer site stuff these days. Bah ! Humbug ! I like real toys and real cards.
