Space Battleship Yamato AKA Star Blazers has been one of my favourites from the early 80's. The design of the titular ship was a perfect design and none of the subsequent reworkings (including by the great Syd Mead) could make it look better. It's interesting that the recnt Yamato 2199/2202 series returned to the original design and it still works just fine!
