The Wizard from Oz

After his disappointment at Hamleys, blog reader and professional model maker Lewis Morley documented more of his adventures returning to London from Australia recently! Enjoy!

  1. As I began reading my thoughts turned to Private Eye magazine and the arrival of Barry McKenzie from OZ then lo and behold there he was.

Your trip seemed almost as full our trips back to the UK. 'Planet of the Brainfade' was all too familiar.

    Thank you for sharing,

    1. My Father and Barry Humphries were actually quite good friends, although they didn't see each other much over the years -what with being on opposite sides of the planet and all!
I remember when my father died, I was sleeping over in his dark silent house.
The phone rang "Can I speak to Lewis?" said the overseas caller.
"I'm sorry," I replied, "he's just died, this is his son..."
"I know that," said the voice "It's Barry, it's YOU I want to talk to..."

      A splendid chap...

  2. "I suspect any visit back to the place you grew up will disappoint by its changes. The village I grew up in is now largely unrecognisable. I can't believe this just happens in England, I know revisiting other countries after not having been back for some years, most of the changes aren't positive. As for the cost of tourist fare, isn't it the same everywhere?" Andy B
