DINKY FAB 1

The Dinky FAB 1

  1. Great photos. This was the only Anderson Dinky I never had as a kid, a pink car did not do it for me! Got one now though (and the Rosenthal one and the Konami one!). Older and wiser?

    1. Thanks Kev. The purists always pull it for not being a totally accurate shape, plus those two door lines either side, but I like it. The JR 21 one is pretty good, of course, but the canopy is bit flat isn't it. The best one in my opinion is the 1:43 scale Aimi version. I'll have to dig it out and do a few photos of that.

  2. A great model. Much better than the more recent Corgi version.

    1. Yes indeed, Yorkie. The Corgi version has some nice details but I believe the shape is based on the full size puppet version with the taller canopy, not a good look to my mind.

  4. The Corgi version is very nice though. If only they'd managed to capture the sleek profile of the Dinky model, it'd have been perfect. I note that the first Corgi FAB 1 had The Spirit Of Ecstasy atop the radiator whereas the later reissue didn't. Was it a cost-cutting exercise if Corgi had to pay for its use on the first occasion, or did Rolls Royce just deny them permission second time around?

    1. I agree, Kid, very nicely detailed but as say not sleek.
Not sure why the Spirit of Ecstasy was missing later on. Both your ideas seem feasible, or maybe it was just another pointless health and safety issue.
