Moonbase Junior has a few jokes in his toy box.
When I saw these two together it brought back a memory of my own.
The water-squirter ring, a classic prank, reminded me of a ring I had/ saw when I was a nipper, the Bazooka Joe Secret Club ring.
It sort of looked like this joke ring a bit although I can't swear to the colour. I recall it had a plastic meshed circular cap over a whistling mechanism.
The red whistling lips Junior has make almost exactly the same noise I remember the Bazooka Joe Ring making!
Sound memory!

I've got a couple of those squirt rings somewhere. They still make them and you can buy them in joke shops, etc.
ReplyDeleteYeah, those squirt rings are cool Kid. This one came in a Beano Box of Jokes from Home Bargains I think. I used to love Joke shops, a niche store if ever there was. Don't see them much now. there used to be a great one in Whitby. I'm going soon so I'll see its still there!
DeleteThere was a joke and costume shop called Smiffy's in my neighbourhood shops (it closed not that long ago, think it operates online now) and I think I got one of my rings in there, plus a pair of X-Ray Specs (though called X-Ray Gogs) that I'd only seen before in ads in US comics.
DeleteD'ya know, X Ray Specs are exactly what I bought the last time I went into a Joke Shop, in Whitby I think. Great eyes blink alike Kid! They had some of those ace floating scene pens too. I think I got a couple of floating King Kong pens for my old toy stall! There's an amazing joke shop in Hull or at least there was a few years back. It even stocked little plastic Bibles that you could look into like a viewfinder! I had one as a nipper! As for Smiffy's, its one of the best company names ever. Only beaten by Swizzels!
