I saw this old friend again this year. Its a Soviet futuristic boat. About 10 years ago I used it as the cover of an online custom Project SWORD box art project. I called it the SWORD Moon Dart. It doesn't need SWORD to make it look good though. Its a brilliant example of how cool Soviet space toy design was back in the day.
Looks a bit like a rip off of the Proteus submarine from 'Fantastic Voyage' to me. Nice though.
ReplyDeleteMish.
I do see what you mean Mish!
DeleteThe Soviets had a great futuristic hydrofoil design they used on their rivers- I saw one once, perhaps well past its sell-by date, emitting a good deal of black smoke!
ReplyDeleteAlways seems odd that there was a seeming mirror image of everything we did in the West over in the USSR. They had as many cool space toys as us lot! That hydrofoil sounds good Andy!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful primitive streamlined design elements make this a winner to me. And even if it is derivative, anything is better than that overrated Proteus sub from Fantastic Voyage - what a bore!
ReplyDeleteIt is streamlines Zigg, Caught my eye when I first saw it. I wonder if there's an affordable glossy book on soviet space toys?
