When they switched from Granada TV to Yorshire TV, in my region, in 1968, at the onset of all channel Colour TV in the UK, they replaced Gerry Anderson's 'Captain Scarlet' with 'Rocket Robin Hood' and did not show any of his puppet shows again, until the 80s. I have never forgiven them for this and will always despise this inferior US cartoon as a result. Mention it not !!! Mish.
I agree! That is exactly what happened in New York City as well - Captain Scarlet was bumped off by this horrible TV toon, and that was the last of the Supermarionation programs on TV, basically forever. A very dark day, in August 1971...
Hold on a minute there! While it is true that it was recorded in english and the third season was animated in New York, this show is wholly a Canadian production and origin.
Oh dear. Much as I enjoyed RRH on saturday, along with Arthur King of Camelot ( hes a ring a ding a ling of a king!) it was no substitute for a good anderson fest!
In Wales we had our beloved TWW taken off us and replaced by the inferior Harlech TV. However as TWW closed beforetbefore Harlech was ready to provide a service, the Authority had to provide a three month sustaining service.

DeleteSo, to quote South Park, blame Canada!

ReplyDeleteRocket Robin Hood was one of the shows.
