JET DONE! MY HOME-MADE JET PATROL IS FINISHED!

Here's my inspiration, the glorious Bandai Thunderbirds Jet Patrol toy, which I've only ever seen online.

Here's my junkpile [JP!] version I've just finished making.

It was a lot of fun to do.
Here's a few outdoor shots of my new JP in action.

Phew!
Time for a beer!

What do you think?

  1. What a little cracker. Have to say the Bandai original is one of the ugliest toys ive ever seen, but your little model is ace!

Quite how it fits inside your TB2's pod I'll never know.

  6. Lovely work! I'm impressed with how you've captured the spirit of the original.
The only thing that could be improved on would to give it a transparent dome. I'm thinking I should send you some tips for how to make them easily in the comfort of your own home.
( As with me, Missus permitting!)

    1. Thanks a bunch Looey! It was fun to do. The dome I used is half a deo bottle. My basic principle is that if I can't find it at home then I don't use it. I am a lazy bodger after all! Humbrol paint is the exception! But tips always welcomed.

  8. The toy is a complete original, as far as I know. There is a Jet Bulldozer, which I have based on Firefly and a Jet Gyro loosely based on a helijet. Could be your next project!

  9. I seriously love all of your scratch-builds, and this one may be your masterpiece. Such an awkward, homely craft, and because of that, instantly iconic. Your SB collection would make a hell of a photo book, someday...
