Hong Kong toy factory workers using flattened Project SWORD Cape Kennedy Set boxes as production line table covers! What do you make of it?

Amazing find once again Woodsy! Could it really be that for the first time ever, we get to see a glimpse inside the very factory where C21 toys were made? Sheer thought of it gives me the chills!
ReplyDeleteThanks Arto. And yes... we can dream it is!
DeleteHow in gods name did you find that ? If its 1971, then they are obviously using the old uncut boxes from dead stock or misprinted proofs to cover the worktables. I wonder if theres anyway to find out the location ?
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm bored and hungry Wote I go a lookin. I'll check the film details.
DeleteThere was a Hong Kong based seller (inactive lately) who sold some magnificent and unique items, among them flat unused HK boxes, lots of rare toys - and one Nuclear Ferry. Bought some MIB Sword from him (not the Ferry). I imagined he had access to the remains of some HK manufacturer's stock. Perhaps of one like depicted in the clip.
ReplyDeleteWow Arto! You have flat unused HK boxes! I remember a HK dealer telling me about a warehouse where he'd found a Ferry. I shall dream of old HK stock, lost factories and abandoned warehoues tonight!
DeleteWe must be talking about the same fella Woodsy. What a lucky guy! I had some correspondence with him at the time, but that seems to have been lost now. Do you still have yours saved?
DeleteJust to set the record straight, I did not buy any flat boxes (which were mostly Action Man iirc). Much better - I bought whole MIB Sword toys, among them a still unopened Dyna-Soar!
I doubt I have access to those communications unless I blogged them. My old emails are trapped on a busted laptop! I have to ask, did you open the Dyna Soar?
DeleteNo I did not Woodsy (have another one opened). So there's a dilemma similar to that of Schrödinger's cat - open the box, check the toy and the never-opened quality is lost; or, let it stay unopened and wonder if it is a box filled with something else... I have decided to trust the seller (and yeah, the toy is there)
DeleteThere is some communication with Nassau San on the blog here Arto https://projectswordtoys.blogspot.com/2014/12/ferry-christmas-time-line-of-all-five.html
DeleteIs that the one?
I have to ask, how do you know the toy is in the Dyna Soar box? ha ha
I was referring to Pekoday Woodsy. He had leftovers and samples of what I thought was a defunct HK toy manufacturer. Had some correspondence with him at the time, but he never mentioned his source of rare goods.
ReplyDeleteAh yep, Pekoday. He's included in that link in my last comment too. Not sure I corresponded with him. I wish I could access my old emails trapped on my kaput laptop! There are thousands!
