A LOOK AT DINKY JOE'S CAR AND SAM'S CAR

Here's a few old photos I took of my original Joe 90 Dinky Jet Air Car including the original bubble display, and the three different coloured Sam Loover's Cars  I own - The burgundy red one I've had since I was a kid. I managed to retain the original box, display plinth and the lapel badge over the years. The powder blue and silver versions I picked up a few years ago.  I'm told there's also other less common colours out there, a gold one and different shade of red.

I think the Dinky Joe's Car looks a lot better on the road than flying. (The much later released Vivid version looks better flying than on the road in my opinion)

  1. Beautiful toys it's just a shame they never produced them in the correct colours.

  2. Very nice photos. No idea what they coated the shiny Sam's car in but it's bomb proof, all surviving examples are mint!

    1. I suppose kids just preferred to play with Joe's car rather than Sam's.;)

  3. Cool pics Scoop and fab toys! It always amazes me that after Stingray and Thunderbirds etc the giys at C21 could still design fabulous vehicles that still look futuristic even now! Don't think I had Sam's Car but Mac's car was a favourite. I can feel the legs clicking round even now, although I don't have any Dinkys now. Mac's Car and the Lunar Bug were always stablemates in my bedroom. They just went together. Great toys and great times.

    1. Thanks Woodsy. Yes, some great designs; Joe's car was down to Derek Meddings and I think Mike Trim did Sam Loover's. The Lunar Bug is an interesting one as it's a Corgi toy, but it's obviously inspired by Dinky's Joe's Car.:)

  4. More incredible photos of more beloved die-cast. When I first saw your pix on the blog several years ago, I assumed they were old photos from Century 21 studios, so realistic were the dioramas. Who knew this was just a hobby for you - amazing!

    1. Very kind of you to say so, Zigg. I must admit it seems a few people like to see them. With lockdown continuing here in the UK I plan to do several more.:)

    1. Yes indeed, Lewis, with the rear spoiler removed if I remember correctly. I'm probably mentioning something you already know, but I seem to recall it makes an appearances in The Secret Service, and definitely in UFO too.:)
