Looking further at this Larami toy catalogue from 1969, which I saw on an auction site and kept pics of, I spotted the Avenger among the toy pistols.
The word Avenger and its typeface is clearly a nod to the Angers, the popular British TV programme with Steed and Emma Peel.
I'm pretty sure that's a Steed-like figure on the backing card.
I wonder if this knockoff is of interest to true Avengers toys fans?
Interesting. The Avenger Target Set with pallet gun says four stand-up targets - so I assume the four figures in colour are intended to be the targets, making it unlikely that one is Steed. On the other hand having a Steed-like figure would help to suggest a link with The Avengers TV series. Loved The Avengers, especially the Emma Peel episodes.
ReplyDeleteAlso, while guns are not really my subject, surely the Agent M Luger Cap Pistol - upper right - looks more like a Walther P.38 than a Luger ?
The circus figures seem a little out of place amid all this firepower.
