I've seen this toy in the flesh! There was a touring James Bond museum that was in my home town 20 years ago, the set is amazing- regards MJ Southcoast Base
Thank you for these film clips of the Gilbert James Bond Road Race set in action. Until now I have only seen photos and period advertising. What a terrific toy. I doubt any made it to NZ at the time, given tight NZ import controls. $35 US in 1965. Beautiful - I never had a slot car set, but always wanted one. Has anyone ever reissued or copied this set ?
Not sure about re-issues Paul. Century 21 Toys released their own DB5 friction toy. They also released all the project SWORD and Thunderbirds toys either as JR21 or C21.
