NICHOLAS PARSONS R.I.P.

Sorry to read that broadcaster Nicholas Parson has sadly passed away aged  96 after a short illness.  Most will remember him from the Radio 4 panel game , 'Just A Minute', some will remember him in the game show, 'Sale of the Century'.

He was a prolific actor, particularly during his earlier career. He appeared in the 1989 Doctor Who adventure, 'The Curse of Fenric' as the Rev. Wainwright who has to face a horde of vampire-like Haemovoures!

To Gerry Anderson fans he was the speaking voice of Sheriff, Tex Tucker, in the 1960's puppet series, Four Feather Falls.

Nicholas with director, David Elliot.
I was lucky enough to see Nicholas at a couple of events. The first was Fanderson '84, one was a Cult TV celebration at Weston-super-Mare several years later, and the other was the first Andercon event in 2014.

Andercon: 2014. Nicholas on stage with David Elliot, David Graham and his former wife, Denise Bryer during a ' Four Feather Falls' Reunion interview.

A true gent and our sincere condolences to his family.

  1. Four Feather Falls was the name, Scoop, not Four Feature Falls. I remember him from The Arthur Haynes Show, as well as Sale Of The Century and Just A Minute. The latter will never be quite the same again without him.

    1. I know that, Kid, it was just down to predictive text.

    2. I suspected you knew that, Scoop, but was surprised you didn't spot it before publishing. Was just trying to be helpful. (That predictive text seems a bit selective, eh?)
