I've got one very similar to this (perhaps even the exact same) that was given away as a free gift in, I think, a UK Marvel comic in the early '80s. (Maybe it was smaller. I'll check when I can remember where I've stashed it.)
Make an interesting comparative feature next year Kid. The only toy pistol I recall from a comic was one I got with Fantastic. I think it was made of card.
