MYSTERY ORION CARDS

These TV cards were on auction in Spain.

It said it was a TV show called Orion.

Does anyone know it or the cards?

  1. Yes. It's a German TV sci fi series from the 1960s called 'Raumpatroille' (Space Patrol I think).
Made in black and white, it features a flying saucer type space ship (raumschiffe ?)called Orion, which launches, through a whirlpool, from a base under the sea, just like the Hawkwing from Gerry Anderson's Terrahawks.
It features an American character called McLean, who is sent to check out some weird pan galactic, or even pan dimensional aliens nicknamed 'Frogs', for some reason.
Made around the same time as Star Trek, it has a much more 50s look about it, with a quirky Atomic Age space ship control room and consoles.
Check it out on YouTube. It's there somewhere.
    Mish.

  2. Raumpatrouille Orion was a popular yet short-lived German science fiction series

What's peculiar about the cards is that the series itself was in black & white.

The merchandise is scarce, but there is a rare Orion VIII space ship by Arnold
