Were you a room climber as a kid?
I always enjoyed climbing over stuff when I was a nipper. Settees and beds were obvious routes up and down but I think my fave peaks were the stairs.
The stairs offered the budding mountaineer many challenges.
Ours was open along one side with banisters going up it. The banisters were always beckoning to me but I usually lost my nerve after two or three steps on the outside with the headroom getting less and less!
Another technique I could finish was the start-post swing. This involved perching on the outer bottom banister step and slowly working your way round the big post to the same banisters on the other - stairs -side. Done swiftly it was a sort of a swing.
My fave climbing activity though was crocodiling. This involved going up the stairs flat on your belly in a sort of crawl commando style. Going up was easy but going down was slightly hairier and really great fun, so much so that i think I may have to try it again!
Where you a house climbing kid?
i climbet the wardrobe in my bedroom, then i jumped on the bed shouting " geronimo " XD ew
ReplyDeleteHa ha. Sounds like fun EW! I shouted geronimo too! Why did we do that?
DeleteAs a little lad, I climbed a concrete coal bunker in the back garden, and then fell off, Woodsy. It did seem quite a drop at the time. I remember my dear old dad heard the kurfuffle and came to the rescue :)
ReplyDeleteBlimey Tone. Coal bunker climbing is outside. That's mountaineering!
