Superb photos Scoop! - ATV were the first region to see Thunderbirds on this day in 1965. In South Wales we were served by TWW, and they first scheduled it for family Tea Time viewing at 6:30 beginning in November. For some reason, I missed the opening five or ten minutes of the first episode, so didn't get to see it from start to finish until 1989!
I suspect most of the ITC series tended to start their run with ATV as that was Lew Grade's company. I remember watching here in Granada land on it's first outing when it was shown in two halves, a half hour, then the news at six followed by the last 20 minutes. I believe Shane Rimmer voiced a recap but I can't say I remember that.
We got the whole lot in an hour from 6:30 to 7:30 straight after the News - unheard of these days. The series was transmitted in three seasons by TWW. 18 episodes for the first, then a second season of six, starting with Move and Your Dead. And then the final six from October 1966, through to the Christmas Day episode.
We could also receive the other TWW station Teledu Cymru, which transmitted Thunderbirds on a Sunday afternoon. So essentially from November 1965 throughout 1966 I was able to see the series twice a week!
Happy Thunderbirds Day Scoop. Great shots too. I consider myself part of the Thunderbirds generation and am happy for it to be labelled as such. Along with Blue Peter, How, Star trek and a few other shows it basically made me who I am. Thunderbirds was groundbreaking and gave us a vision of a future that has driven our lives, certainly my own. It was simply fantastic television. A Thunderbirds Day is a great idea.

Great memories,Bill. I think because ITV considered Thunderbirds to be family entertainment they were happy to broadcast it early evening.
