THUNDERBIRDS ANNUAL CUTAWAYS

While I'm in the mood for cutaways, here's a few more I posted a long while back on the blog, this time from the 1966 Thunderbird Annual, showing the Thunderbird craft.

  1. Always great to see these. More proof that the 60s annuals were far better made than those today.

    1. Absolutely Yorkie, the annuals thesedays have very little if any imagination. I certainly don't possess any of the 90's ones which in my opinion were just poor quality and trying to cash in.

  2. Superb pictures Scoop, drawn by Eric Eden I believe. You and Yorkie are absolutely right, the much later ones were poor quality and contain just over half the page count!

TV21 without a doubt still holds the crown for originality and quality.

    1. Yes Indeed, Bill,TV21 was the natural progression from the old Eagle comic.
I think it's generally accepted that Eric Eden drew the cutaways. He did live in my home town of Southport for a time.

  3. I've always loved these vintage Anderson cutaways and never tire of seeing them, Scoop. What the Hood would have given to get his hands on these inside perspectives :)

    1. Yes, the Hood is a bit dim, isn't he Tony. He could have just read TV21 instead of planting bombs on Fireflash or posing as a film producer - "my pictures,my beautiful pictures, someone will pay for this!"
