As Woodsy has been putting up links to YouTube tunes I thought I'd put one up myself which not only features one of my favourite bands, but the lyrics are also fairly relevant to the current Moon Landing anniversary -
Ladies & Gentlemen, I present Jethro Tull and their song, "For Michael Collins, Jeffery and Me".
Great tune Scoop and so topical. I always felt sorry for Mike Collins but without him there would be nothing to talk about. Tull were in my top five bands as a teenager. I adored their albums Stand Up, Aqualung and Heavy Horses. Jeffrey appeared again in Jeffrery goes to Leicester Square, a rock flute pageant to die for. When I saw Anchorman Ron Burgundy's parody of rock flute I cringed but then I had to laugh along as nowadays its just not cool I suppose. Doesn't change how brilliant Tull's albums were though!
Yeah, they were and are a great band, Woodsy. I saw frontman Ian Anderson playing Chester Cathedral just before last Christmas. It was a great setting and some great sounds.
I really like this song as it does try to conjure up the imagined loneliness that Michael Collins must have felt as he circled round the Moon.
