DAVID HEDISON R.I.P.

Sad to read reports that the actor David Hedison has died aged 92.

He is probably best known for his starring role as Captain Lee Crane in the 60's adventure series, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.

I was fortunate enough to very briefly meet the man at one of the Birmingham Memorabilia events, where he was  part of a James Bond  autograph signing. Sadly, I didn't ask for an autograph when I spoke to him, which I have to admit, I've since regretted.

Some might remember David, credited as Al Hedison in the original The Fly. He was also a friend of the late Sir Roger Moore and appeared in an early episode of The Saint, Luella which coincidently has Sir Roger's, Simon Templer character pretending to be James Bond. During his time working on The Saint episode he was called by Irwin Allen about starring in 'Voyage...'. Roger s advice was go for it!  David would work with Roger again as he would go on to play Bond's' friend from Langley', Felix Leiter in Live and Let Die with Sir Roger. He reprised the role in the Timothy Dalton 1989 Bond film, Licence To Kill.

Our sincere condolences to his family
