TAG ZERO X IMAGES RELEASED

These images of the TAG version of Zero X have been recently shared, and they look pretty cool.

I'm not sure about the look of the rear thruster, but once its detached the craft looks great. The wings look like they're attached, and the heat shield is part of the cockpit, so it doesn't look like there's an M.E.V., but what a great toy or model it would make!

  1. The CGI rendering makes it look almost like a model, and reminiscent of the large Imai kit too. Do you think that the rear booster or first stage, resembles a section of the Soviet N1 Moon Rocket? I do hope that we get to see Glenn Field when they do get to launch the next one.

    1. I'm not sure what the booster is based on, Bill.It looks like the end of a machine gun or as Wote suggests, an old blowlamp.I suppose it gives it an alternative look as opposed the original design. I'd love to see it as a model, though.
Yeah, I'm hoping for a Glenn Field take off too.

  2. This is so good to see, after the lacklustre reception to early episodes, Zero X seems to be returning the show back to canon slightly. Apart from the ugly blowtorch engine on the back, its a beautiful redition of a classic craft. Much better than the Fireflash rehash. Looking at the cgi, rather than the blueprint, I suspect there could be a MEV component in there - the nosecone immediately in front of the cockpit windows is a different shade and theres a distinct shutline behind it.That could mKefor the silver grey section a new command module. The original recessed braking rockets are still present, to facilitate easier docking too. Either way, its a geek dream come true and if Bandai release a model or toy version, it will be a stunner!

  3. Yes, the series seems to be trying to attract new viewers at the moment, what with a recent television interview with David Graham, and the imminent release of the new toys. I hope the arrival of Zero X gives the show a renewed boost.

    1. I can't see it myself, Mark. Maybe if the front wings were missing, perhaps. Still, makes me want to watch Event Horizon again.

  5. Gerry Anderson's 0X has a boxy engine section at the rear and the wings are a fuller shape whereas TAG's rear engine has rounded off edges and the wings are slimmer, the Event Horizon has only a single wing at the rear (which you observed) but I think it's more like an extruded stabiliser. I'm not aware of Gerry Anderson using experts in aerospace design, instead just gently pilfering what was around E.G NASA, modelkits, American toy shops, WETA would have aeronautical designers, even if in TAG'S vehicle's don't quite move in a believable manner

    2. I don't know whether the Century 21 studio used aircraft designers at anytime, but I think you're right about using ideas around at the time. I remember listening to Mike Trim at a convention saying that he had lots of photos and magazines featuring the latest aircraft designs. I know someone who used to work on the Slough estate during the seventies and eighties, after the studio had closed, but he told me there was a unit that made aircraft parts, so maybe that was about at the time of Century 21 ,and possibly the team might have visited it.

  6. I think they made incredible aircraft and suchlike for all the Anderson shows, just what kids would want to see back then, personally I loved all the model work that employed the rolling road and/or background, AMT plastic kits destroyed!!love it!!- Mark J Southcoast Base
