Crablogger Origin?

A classic episode of the original supermarionation Thunderbirds, is 'Path of Destruction' where the tree-felling, road laying Crablogger goes amok and heads off course, leaving chaos in its wake. Looking at the coverage of the 1964 Worlds Fair exhibit, General Motors 'Futurama II', the Jungle experience shows a remarkably similar tableau being played out (in a much more orderly and restrained fashion!).

 A huge articulated vehicle rolls through the rain forest, neatly scything away trees before passing them on to a mobile processing unit, which disgorges tarmac and roadway.

Its easy to imagine the supermarionation team visiting the fair and jotting down ideas for future episodes!

These behind the scenes images show the Mobile Processor under construction and gives an idea of the sheer scale of the exhibit.

 After the units have passed through, thronging superhighways of automated vehicles zoom by, transporting goods to the farthest corners of this retrofuture world.
