THIS STAR WARS DAY WE SAY GOODBYE CHEWIE

Its Star Wars Day once again.

Since 1977 the Rebel Alliance has continued its glorious struggle against the craven Empire.

Alas, it it with great sadness that we celebrate the rebellion this year, as there has been a great disturbance in the force this week with the tragic news that Peter Mayhew has sadly passed away aged 74.

Rest in Peace Peter and may the force be with your family and friends.

Goodbye Chewie. You made us all Wookies.

When and where did you first see Star Wars readers?

  1. For me it all started on Friday, 10th of February 1978, at Bio Marilyn, Seinäjoki, Finland. I had read the novel in advance, so seeing the movie was doubly satisfying as it surpassed all my (already high) expectations.

R.I.P. Mr Mayhew. There is some consolation knowing that the best of all Wookie actors had time to pass on much of his legacy and experience to the present Wookie actor Joonas Suotamo. A great honour for a Finn to follow in Mr. Mayhew's Wookie footsteps.

    1. Oh thats great Arto. I didn't know the Finnish connection. Superb. I loved the Star Wars novel too but read it after seeing the film (I came to the rebellion late!). I enjoyed spotting differences in the book and film. Yes. Peter M will always be the one truebacca. I could never madter his famous wookie growl. You?
