POCKET MONEY

What did you spend your pocket money on?

I used to buy comics and sweets.

Oddly enough the comic I recall buying the most clearly is SHOOT, which was a football comic back in the early Seventies [maybe the late Sixties too].

I was a soccer fan in those days, something I'm not keen on at all anymore.

What did your pocket money go on readers?

How much did you get?

  1. I was a sucker for the little plastic toys at Our local 5 and 10 cent store. The toys were in glass bins on a wooden shelf.rubber spiders, bats, snakes, lizards, bugs,I snapped them all up.I usually ate candy only on holidays, but I would buy little packs of crackers or chips all year round. If I saved for a few weeks,I could could afford a Famous Monsters magazine or a couple slices of pizza at my hometown's almost infinite number of Pizzeria's.

  2. Comics, toys, and sweets - same as most kids, I'd imagine. As a teenager in the '70s I got 50p a week pocket money. I probably got around 1/6d as a kid in the '60s.
