I've written a third photo-horror tale for the Christmas-New Year season.
Its called The Reaper's Jest.
Its number 3 in my monster cycle of tales about classic monsters. This one's the ghoul. Not for the squeamish.
Its longer and stronger than the last two so I've decided to post it on a new blog of mine for my horror fiction: The Gargoyle's Displeasure.
Moonbase isn't the place for it.
If you have a mind to then check it out and let me know what you think, either here or there:

Cheers,
Woodsy
Congratulations on your new blog venture, Woodsy. What a strong start in the world of horror fiction.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't able to post a comment on the new blog because it seems to require a Google account in order to comment. Not sure if you know, but it doesn't offer the Name/URL or Annonymous options for posting comments which are found here? so I'll post my comment below instead.
My thoughts about The Reaper's Jest are - Vivid gothic imagery with a spine tingling twist of Warren magazine horror. Poe would be proud, Woodsy. By the way, you've illustrated it with some gritty, atmospheric compositions! Well done :)
Thanks ever so much Tone. It means a lot. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I didn't think Moonbase was the right place for hoor fiction, which is getting quite strong in content. I've de-googled the new fiction blog I've created so anyone can comment now but thanks ever so much for commenting here. Thanks too on the thumbs up for my photo gallery. I have enjoyed taking shots at unusual angles for theses stories. Most are on walks with either the Missus or the mutt! Some are just around the house too. Your Halloween photo opus influenced me a lot, such brilliant images you did Tone. I may take the step of no photos for my next tale. Just prose. What do you think?
DeleteTo be honest, Woodsy, I'd like to see more of this style of image used to illustrate the stories. I think the pics work very effectively and strike a good balance with the word count and flow of your narrative. The images are dark, haunting and stylized... they add an extra dimension to what you're doing with the new blog. Besides, the new blog provides perfect platform to be adventurous and experiment with both word and image :)
DeleteThanks Tone. Good advice and definitely food for thought. I'm planning my next tale about... the Mummy!
