DO ASTRONAUTS EAT BOILED EGGS?

I love boiled eggs. With a pinch of salt. I remember when I was a kid and a budding NASA astronaut there was a TV ad that said 'Go to work on an egg!'

Not sure the after-effects of egg eating would be that popular in the space capsule!

As it happens I like all variations of eggs and I'm pretty sure if I lived on Mars I'd take a few hens for laying the breakfast.

In order of laying I prefer:

1. Boiled - soft for brekkers and hard for work
2. Scrambled
3. Poached
4. Omelette

Never had Mexican eggs or a souffle.

So how do you like your eggs in the morning fellow moonbasers?

Did eggs ever feature in a sci fi film or TV series?

  1. Well, the movie Jurassic Park featured hatching eggs. Rather than eating the contents of the eggs, the contents ate the people!

    1. Eggsellent Terran! It seemed so cutting edge at the time and feels like yesterday taking my kid daughter and her friends to see it but its years ago. She's 34 now!

  2. Sunny side up,with yolks hot but runny enough to dip my toast in.My mother made a wicked Quiche Lorraine in her day and I have developed my own recipe, alternating between bacon and lobster as filling.I'm also a fan of Carbonara, a pasta dish with a creamy, cheesy bacon and egg sauce.Would Alien be too obvious of a sci fi egg reference? ;p

    1. Yes, me too Bri. Just like that with nice crispy bacon, a thick pork sausage and half a fried tomatoe, Piece of buttered toast to go with it like you say. Dee lishi us! As for ALIEN, its the eggstra special movie really. But why oh why did Kane stick his face over a huge gassy bubbling leather egg case? Would you?

The blog itself for now is only an idea: I wish I had the time to organize my collection (I'm specialized in Space Toy Soldiers & Similia) and publish its photos, but, you know how it is... :-/ ;-)
PS: Maybe the xeno should try some treatment for its... problem! :-DDD
(OK, this one is reeeealy a bad pun, I apologize... ;-D)

  6. The Apollo astronauts had Steak and Eggs before launch, I'm sure the suits could deal with waste management however I'm sure a meal like that would almost guarantee a few days grace?? -Mark J Southcoast Base
