DID YOU DO CHORES AS A KID?

Did you have to do any jobs when you were a kid?

Maybe housework like taking out the rubbish or maybe even a paid job like a paper round?

I did a bit of work at the Cash 'n' Carry warehouse my Dad ran in the late Sixties and early Seventies. He paid me £100 - in theory - and taxed me £99! ha ha. I have the wageslip somewhere. I got £1.

So, did you do chores readers?

  1. Didn't do household chores but I did eventually volunteer to clean my room as my Mum's speed was hazardous to my models! My first job was a saturday job in the local library. Got a days pay for a morning's work!

    4. Yep, that was it. All the tickets kept in big wooden trays.

    5. Auhh, I once got to flick through those trays of tickets. What a fab thing. Almost meditative!

  3. I am an only child, that had lot of good things and lot of bad ones too.
I had always to mown down the lawn, and I hated it with passion. Just going front-back-front-back with lawnmower was really boring for me as a kid (now it is boring too, but people can whistand anything after sometime).
The same with cleaning/dusting my own room and later when I was older the whole house - it was safer for my LEGOs if I had to do that.

    And first "job"? Room painting

  4. I sympathise Ran. You worked hard as a kid. Did you get toys as a reward or money? Or nothing? I was the opposite, the youngest of five children. It was like a small army! As for painting rooms, I don't think I did that as a kid but I do recall the wallpaper I had, old timer cars!
