I generally don't answer this one, as it's so uneventful! Today, as most days, trying to catch up with work, (at the drawing board), where luckily I can listen to old radio programmes on Youtube (sometimes including old SF plays) as I go. Having a break early afternoon, eg. going for a short walk for exercise before the short-lived sunlight goes. The good thing about being self-employed is that you can work at home and don't have to interact with people (I'm not that sociable) the bad is that work seems to pile up. Oh, and I started the day with a headache and (better news) reading your blog!
Soz about the headache Andy. Never good. I drink a can of coke to shift mine sometimes. probably just placebo but it makes me feel better somehow. I used to be self-employed. Once as a full time ebayer and once as a reading club starter upper in schools. I was always distracted by what was in the fridge or reading a book on vintage toys! Just never got enough done due to a lack of self-discipline, although, like you say, i could work when I wanted. I often ebayed well into the wee small hours. I have a regular job now! Hope you get to go on your walk. You live in a beautiful place. The only water I'll see today is rain!
Will be leaving for the opening of the Aleksanterinkatu Christmas Street shortly. Some 50.000 people are expected to attend. Even though there is no snow, the temperature is below zero which makes it an ideal weather for the Christmas Parade!
Gluhwein and gingerbread, goes without saying! It was a jolly and festive event, crowded but in good spirits. Lots of children with their families, bursting with excitement to see a glimpse of Santa. And so Santa greeted everyone with his gnome entourage!
Ha ha, good old Santa Klaus Arto! How seasonal it is in Helsinki! Glad to hear he wasn't that winter goblin we saw in Rare Exports! I thought of a new bread the other day, Ninjabread. Just not sure what's in it!
The Missus is currently painting our Grandson's 'new' room [our spare box room]. I'm boxing up tons of old tat for next year's car boot selling season, most of which was in said box room! I had planned to put it in our dry shed but I've just snapped the key in the lock! The next project is installing a safety gate at the top of the steep stairs. It will involve drilling so anything could happen in the next half hour!
Taking a break from yardwork to read your blog.I am pleased that the leaf detail is wrapping up and the yard looks good.Later this afternoon I am re arranging the living room furniture to make way for the Christmas tree.Tomorrow is forecast as a rainy day,so I'll stay home and bring the decorations down from the attic. As you have already seen, theres so much stuff to set up,I have to start now or it won't be done by Christmas!
A very small gathering,as I don't have much family left, but the company was welcome and the food was delicious. The U.S.is a big country, and Thanksgiving dinner menus vary greatly from coast to coast(in some areas it's not celebrated at all). Our dinner is pretty indicative of the Northern East Coast.Turkey,Gravy,Celery and Onion Stuffing Mashed Potatoes,Green Beans,Glazed Carrots,Coleslaw,Dinner Rolls with Butter and Pumpkin Pie for dessert.
I wish I could have been there. Sounds like a feast Bri! Love the slaw with the meal and I adore rolls! And who could forget the cranberries! ha ha. Never ever had Pumpkin Pie. Am I missing out?
I'll give you my honest opinion.Pumpkin is a weird thing. Its a fruit that tastes more like a vegetable.the pie itself is a little sweet and more than a bit savory.I didn't care much for it as a child but I love it now.I guess we can call it an "adult" taste.
not working for a change!
