Do You Dust Your Displays?

Dusting is one of those tricky jobs especially for old toys and models.

If theyre not in a cabinet they do get dusty.

Its so easy to knock them off whilst flicking round them.

Before you know it , disaster!

Do tou bother? How do you keep your toys and models clean?

What about books, comics and papers?

  1. Every so often, I use a soft, sable, chisel-edged signwriter's brush to dust excess dust off my models and toys, and occasionally run plastic models under a gently running tap. (I usually wait until the dust is noticeable though.) I also brush dust from the top of books in my bookshelves, or cover the tops of them to prevent dust coming into contact with the paper. My comics aren't left lying around, nor are they on display, so there's no ned to dust them.

    1. That's a good tip Kid, a brush. I have two glass cabinets but they still let dust in. I would love a huge illuminated wall cabinet for my toys but its a dusty dream at the mo!

    2. Remember not to use a hard brush, Woodsy, always a soft paintbrush.

    3. I mean a brush for painting models (or a signwriter's brush, half an inch wide), not one for glossing skirting boards, etc.

  2. Ouch! That hurt, Woodsy. Way too seldom I'm afraid. I try to think on the positive side and see a thin layer of dust in the cabinet as moon dust, gently giving away the longevity of objects within. But every now and then it is time for a major clean-up, again gently of course.
