FAB WORLD OF SPACE 1999 COSTUMES

There was a fine display of original Space 1999 costumes at Fab Worlds, including one of the six spacesuits made for the series.

As usual there were helpful descriptions provided. The suit is labelled ‘6’, and the neck ring is labelled ‘B B No 2’

This suit would have been worn by Nick Tate, Paul Jones and others.

This photo shows a Year 1 costume made for Commander Koenig played, of course by Martin Landau, and an original ‘Doctor Russell’ costume from Year 2, made specifically for Barbara Bain (labelled B.BAIN No 1)

A Year 2 ‘Maya’ costume made specifically for Catherine Schell, and next to it an original Eagle pilot Alan Carter costume worn by Nick Tate. This is a Year 1 costume, revamped for Year 2. (Labelled as ‘2 NIC TATE’)

This photo, apart from the spacesuit, shows Sandra Benes ‘costume from Year 1 revamped for Year 2. It was originally worn by Zienia Merton, and later by Yasuko Nagazumi who played Command Center data analyst Yasko in the series.

It was used again for the short film,’ Message from Moonbase Alpha’.

This is an Entran Huntress Headress and ponytail worn in the Year 2 episode, ‘Devil’s Planet’.

At the far right of this photo is the original ‘Maurna’ dress  worn by Veronica Lang in the Year 2 episode, ‘The Mark of Archanon’. The costume was reused and worn by Kathryn Leigh Scott in the Year 2 episode,  ‘Dorzak’.  Next to that is the original costume worn by Ann Firbank as Consul  Varda in the final episode of Year 2, ‘The Dorcons’.

This is a converted Year 1 Main Mission costume worn by Sarah Bullen as Kate, and an original Medical Section costume as worn by  Jeffery Kisson as Dr Ben Vincent.
