There were plenty of Space 1999 models on display at the
recent Fab Worlds of Anderson.
While I liked them all, the star for me was Eagle 2, one of
the three original 44” miniatures built for the series.
Eagle 2 was the second 44” Eagle prop built, and first seen
in the episode, ‘The Last Sunset’.
This is the excellent 44” Eagle replica which was made by
Chris Potter.
Chris displayed it with four additional side booster
rockets, as seen in the episode,’ New Adam, New Eve’.
This is one of Chris’ Round 2 MPC 22" Eagle kit builds.
A couple of other Space 1999 related models from Chris; A
replica Meta Probe…
..and a replica Ultra Probe Command Module.
The Mark IX Hawk warship that made its appearance in the
episode,’ War Games’ has always been a popular design.
This Hawk was displayed by David Sisson.
This is a 1:48 ’concept’ Hawk designed by Brian Johnson, and
built by Steve Howarth, with missile cones done by Mike Reader.
Another 1999 original studio model owned by Simon Rhodes, the Pilot Ship from, ‘Bringers
of Wonder’. Thanks to Chris Potter for the info.
Apart from being an obviously interesting looking model, it’s
notable for actually having used parts
from an Airfix Eagle for some of its detailing.
An finally something a little different again from R James Ashton, a
couple of Eagle castaways.
A sight for sore eyes, nothing less! Thanks once again for great reporting, Scoop.
ReplyDeleteThanks Arto, it was certainly a popular event.
