Tales of the Riverbank was one of the genuine treats of Childrens Television.
I only saw the b/w version - in my head it sort of continued the Wind in the Willows theme of story telling.
A north American Google search for music from the show brings up the attached:
Words and music by Paul Weller.
Being non musical I cannot verify if this is the right theme music, over to you.

Strange this Terran. The only Paul Weller I've heard of is a famous mod popstar who formed the bands The Jam and the Style Council in the late 1970's. Her's known as the Modfather. I wonder if this is his homage to a well-loved TV theme of his? The date at the bottom could be 1981, which might fit. Maybe someone knows for sure.
