BRIAN'S HARD ROCK CASINO STROLL

Collecting rock memorabilia is for the seriously deep pocketed only I reckon and the Hard Rock Cafe have them.

New Jersey reader Brian sent in these cool snaps of some of the rock treasures in Atlantic City.

Brian says " Took a stroll during lunch break at the Hard Rock casino in Atlantic City NJ and snapped some pictures (excuse the poor quality) of some rock star gear. While most of the stuff belonged to stars of British origin,I couldn't help but throw in the armor of your favorite plonker Gene Simmons of KISS!" 1. As a life long fan of The Who I attended the auction at Bonhams of John Entwistle's bass guitar collection - I had £1000 in my wallet plus debit card and had hoped that I might be lucky enough to pick up one of the more obscure and less valuable pieces. How wrong I was ! It became rather tiresome as representatives of the Hard Rock co. bought up lot after lot (seemingly without interest in the history of each instrument) and the large number of Who fans in the building audibly groaned each time they snaffled up another piece of Who history. I remember the ironic cheer that went up when a Mod girl successfully bid for one of John's rings which featured diamonds set as champagne bubbles fizzing over a glass because it was one of the few items the corporates ignored ! lol

    1. Well done for trying Fenton. Sounds like a interesting experience. I like the Who too and went to see them about 20 years ago. About 10 years ago a strange thing happenned. I was looking for a copy of a book I had as a teenager, Japanese Arms and Armour. I found one online and bought it from the book dealer, who told me It was from the library of John Entwistle's home. It has a small label on the inside cover saying so!

    2. Oh that's a nice little keepsake to have ! They were also selling off his armour and militaria as well as his impressive collection of exotic game~fish (Marlin etc) he'd caught and had stuffed ! lol. I've been a Who fanatic since childhood and have been lucky enough to have seen them live at various shows around the world, I briefly got to know John a little in the last few years of his life and was privileged to attend his memorial service in St Martins in the Field in Westminster
