Searching Google Patents i came across these patents for the Sears tinplate space series. Here's the link for you to look at the various entries yourself. These toys were originally Bandai i think.

If you're really keen, a boxed one of these is for sale (along with many of its Sears stablemates) at the Mark Bergin toys site (http://bergintoys.com/product-category/space-vehicles/). Prices are a little steep for me though. Still, it's nice to know that there are still examples of these in existence.
ReplyDeleteThey are truly magnificent toys - the designs are timeless and still seem modern in the 21st century and they have almost limitless play value. I wish I could go back to the early 60s and buy a full set of these treasures!!!
Cheers, Tony
Thanks for the link Tony. That is an amazing fleet pf Sears beauties that Mark B has for sale. I've never seen the big shovel before either!
