HAPPY BIRTHDAY GERRY

Today would have been Gerry Anderson's eight-ninth birthday, and Anderson fans like me are remembering the man and the influence he has had on our lives. Even after all these years I certainly still enjoy many of his earlier series, from Supercar to Space:1999, and thanks to this blog I can still share my enthusiasm (and the odd photo) with some of you fellow fans.

Here's a photo taken by my pal and fellow fan, Andy Kerr, when we both last saw Gerry at the TV21 Convention in 2010.  A convention where, although I'd already starting posting on the blog, I first met our man Woodsy at his one and only Fandrson convention.

Although Gerry's health issues were evident he was still on fine form, and as always a pleasure to listen to.

Happy Birthday, sir.

  1. A sad anniversary for sure Scoop. The architect of our childhoods, Gerry ... and Sylvia too. Such innovation so long ago. Those guys at C21 studios were pioneers creating totally convincing worlds in miniature year after year. I hope Gerry liked his supermarionation work in the end. I know he loved live action. It was great meeting you and Andy at that con Scoop. If i recall it was a lottery for 21 lucky folks to meet Gerry. I enjoyed just seeing him there. Fanderson did a good job with that con.
