I liked this one.It was considered a bit of a hack,coming to theatres about the same time as Leviathan.I seem to remember Deep Star Six being a 3D theatrical release.While it's budget was nowhere as big as The Abyss,it can be a fun popcorn movie taken at face value.
Alas I fell asleep during Deep Star Six Brian just after the missiles were detonated by the over-zealous Miguel Ferrer. I was done in last night. I shall resume later. I shall follow on with Leviathan, which I don't think I've seen. I suppose Abyss is the bog daddy of all these oceanic alien films. Have you heard of Deep Rising? Is that related to these films?
Amazingly Deep Star Six was on British TV tonight so I just caught the last 25 minutes to finish it off! It is an enjoyable flick for sure. Watching Leviathan now on YT!
DS6 is great from a creature and vehicular point of view. Leviathan is crap. Abyss is the benchmark, with Crichtons Sphere coming a close 3rd. Deep Rising isnt bad either if you like splatter and schlock.

ReplyDeleteI'm really enjoying Leviathan so far. About a third way through! It reminds of LIFE and Cloverfield Paradox but underwater.
