PROJECT SWORD TOY WEATHERING

As part of the weathering sub-genre of modelling its always interesting to see Project SWORD toys being weathered and painted.

Here are a few I know of.

Moon Bus [Ebay]
Heavy weathering.

The side windows are fascinating. I have a feeling the Tai Hing prototype may have had some but I will need to check that out properly.

Probe Force 2 [Ebay]
Heavy weathering

Scout 2 [Ebay]
Painted

Imai Project SWORD miniatures [Ebay]
Very heavy weathering - almost Warhammer!

SpaceX Nuclear Pulse [Bill B]
Painted

SpaceX LT10 [Bill B]
Painted

Task Force 1 [Scoop]
Painted

Space Glider [Kevin D]
Painted

Have you painted or weathered a toy? Why do you think its popular readers?

  1. These weathered and/or painted toys are so beautiful. It goes to show you how important these space vehicles are/were to some of us. Even a toy can be spruced up pretty darn nice if one has the passion and the patience. Excellent post!

    1. Thanks Zigg. Its an interesting area of collecting and modelling, painting toys. There's a phrase called Code 3 here, whereby die-cast toys are modified to create a wholly new version and often Gerry Anderson toys by Corgi and Dinky. Is Code 3 modelling in the US too?

  2. In the same vein, as part of my vintage plastic vehicle collection - the one I put together to flesh out my 3-rail O-guage train layouts - I have quite a few cars and trucks painted by their previous owners way back in the day in an attempt to make them more realistic or perhaps just personalize them. Most of the painting is rather crude but I wouldn't strip the paint off any of them for the world!
