Cold Snaps

A sudden bloom of thick snow this morning, allowed me to test out a sniper telephoto lens I picked up from York car boot with Woodstock last year. From my bedroom window I was able to clearly distinguish the TV transmitter on Winter Hill, Bolton some 20 miles away.

  3. Beautiful pics I agree. I love the bird in the first shot. From its jizz I'd say its a crow. Just how far can your lens see?

  4. Tha's gripped me off there, Woodsy! a good spec. I reckon that 20 mile distance is about its operational range, trouble is the slightest movement makes focussing difficult, as the image bounces around in the viewfinder. But not a bad buy for 3 quid!

  5. Super value lens, Bill. 20 miles is some distance. Did you use a tripod or improvise to support the lens? :)

    1. Tripos and a remote trigger to avoid camera shake. Lens is about 18” long and has its own tripod mount. Still jiggled about when traffic went by though!
