East Village Space Toys Spotted!

There is a store - Toy Tokyo - in the 'East Village' section of Manhattan that specialises is Anime.

I had avoided it through lack of interest but wasn't far away from it today so went in. The accompanying photos may be of interest especially the Space Beetle!

  1. In my younger years I would make special trips to Toy Tokyo or perhaps The Outer Limits in Clifton Heights.I became spoiled when Toy Tokyo would come to Atlantic City for the big antique show bi annually.Driving 15 minutes definitely beat driving 2 plus hours. My aim was more for Kaiju/Tokusatsu,but the space toys were always worth a look.

    1. That Atlantic City show sounds like it was a good one Brian. Were there lots of space toys and monsters?

    2. At first there was tons of toy dealers. But the dealers entry fee went up to a point that the toy dealers couldn't make a profit,so they didn't participate anymore.Thats when I stopped going, and now I don't even know if they have the Atlantique City show anymore

  2. I love shops like those, only problem is that most of them are REALLY heavy overpriced.
Doesn;t mater if those are comic books shops, retro gaming shops etc. most stuff that "oh, it is old so it have to be worth FORTUNE" is waaaay overpriced

But still, I love stuff like that (as long I don';t need to sell my kidney to get one cheaper item from shop like that)

  3. I think all of that is modern repro, rather than old- though I still like it. A smaller version of that Flash Gordon rocket was produced a few years ago marketed by Schylling.

    1. Yep, many things have been repro'd Andy and these are good examples I agree. Not heard of Schylling. I'll look them up.
