If I need to clean them when I first get them, I just use normal household cleaner like Mr Muscle. After that, just dust them or better yet put them in a cabinet that keeps the dust off them!
Not sure if you ever tried this when you were a collector/dealer, Woodsy; but I always used toothpaste and a soft old toothbrush to clean grubby vintage Action Man faces. It always produced excellent results and removed years of dirt. Incidentally, I use good old fashioned Brasso to clean bakelite, especially vintage telephones :)

ReplyDeleteI use Armor All original. I used to use carnauba car wax for the tin but the wax always dries white in the hardest to reach/clean places!
ReplyDeleteta for all the tips guys. I shall try them out when I sort out my SWORD collection and all the badges again this year.
