Did you Use Your Parent's Furniture to Play On?

Did you used to use the furniture in the house to play on or with?

Maybe a tent, a den, a race track, a train, a fort?

I used to sit on the back of the big sofa and ride it like a horse! ha ha

What did you do readers?

  1. Not so much in the house.

We'd use cardtables and haul them outside, put an od sheet over them and use them as bases/forts during our combat games.

We had a picnic table that was all hooked together. The ends were metal pipes and the seat and table top board bolted onto it. We would toss sheets over it also and wedge my tractor tire inner tube under it. Then lay on our backs under the table and inside the tire and re-enact NASA rocket fun.

    1. ha ha, I love that image Lance, you guys lying in the Apollo Picnic on your backs staring into the infinite below the table! Superb. So was it a real-life tractor tyre?

    2. Not the hard rubber outside treaded tire but the inner tube that held the air. They were more like bike tires (2 parts) than car tires (1 part). The inner tube when inflated was great to float on at a lake, bounce on in the yard, a boat standin, spaceship cockpit. My grandfather owned a Firestone store in Indiana and carried a lot of parts for farm vehicles.

    3. Those inner tubes sound like fun Lance as does your Grandad's Firestone store. I imagine that was like an Aladdin's cave!
