Brian F's space ace

I must have missed the last conversation about Space Ace.

It was a video game designed by Don Bluth, a former Disney animator.

It followed his successful video game debut called Dragon's Lair.

There were various toys and other merch based on the characters.

I have home versions of these games for the Atari Jaguar system from the 90's as pictured.

Anyone else have any Space Ace?

  1. Only Space Ace piece I have is the actual laser disc from an arcade machine. It is just in a plain white sleeve so nothing special about it visual wise. My player is an ancient top loader. If you play the disc is a player and not the one in the arcade machine, it just plays the segments through followed by the deaths for that segment, then the next segment rinse/repeat.

    Here's the earlier conversation

It might be hard to relive today the excitement that this whole new concept on arcade gaming created back in the early 80's, mixing fully animated segments into the game. Kind of transitional phase vis-a-vis full digital that came later.

  3. I thought you knew about this Arto. Thanks for the link back. It all passed me by I'm afraid as did the entire video gaming phenomenon. Not sure what I was doing instead! the blue fella on the top picture looks a lot like the genie in the Disney film Aladdin!
