For anyone who's interested the H.S. entrance mock up,which is just the lower facade, is made from some odd bits of MDF making up the box, with some off cuts of clear perspex. The rest is just strips of painted timber, cardboard and white insulation tape. It's obviously not totally accurate as I only wanted it for a few photos, but I suspect I'll probably tinker with it over time.
I was wondering exactly that. Excellent job on that building!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kev. It was a little bit of a rush job as I haven't had time to do anything new, but it makes a nice backdrop for my Straker's car. I'll probably expand the base board at some point to get a bit more of the building in shot.
DeleteIt can also be used as Holby City Hospital of course!
ReplyDeleteThat's very true, Kev, but I believe they tend to film at the back generally speaking, a part we don't see in UFO.
DeleteNeptune House, the actual name of the real building at BBC Elstree is a place I'd love to visit, but understandably it's behind security gates and houses, so unless you work there, or have special permission there's no chance for decent photos. The top floors at the front can be seen from a side street off Henley Way in Elstree, which I think one of the houses down there was used as the Butler's house in the film version of 'On The Buses'.
Yep, I'd love to visit it too. Brilliant that it's still around though.
ReplyDeleteFabulous construction and photography Scoop. The car and the building really go well together. I never knew that it was the Holby City place too! ha ha. Charlie meets Straker! Can you imagine a UFO can in Neptune House! Fans would be UFOric! Have a great time at the con Scoop. You should have your own display!
ReplyDeleteThanks Woodsy. Neptune House turns up in lots of cult stuff. Apart from UFO, it also turns up in Journey to the far side of the Sun too. It can be seen in a few other ITC series like The Saint and The Adventurer.
DeleteThese days, apart from Holby, the actual site that Neptune house is part of is probably best known for having the permanent Albert Square set used for BBC soap opera Eastenders.
