no fivers at moonbase

I've just been alerted by BRASSA the space ATM that old five pound notes will be invalid after midnight tonight here in the UK.

Yep, old fivers will be worthless in the morning.

Having checked the Moonbase coffers I'm pleased to report that we are already fiverless.

Get spending those old fivers UK readers!

  1. They won't be worthless. Shops can stop accepting them. High street banks may accept them for a while, the Bank of England has to accept them forever ('I promise to pay the bearer..' etc.)

    1. Thanks for that Kevin. Nicely clarified. Do the Bank of England accept all obsolete money?

  2. I think that if they backed it, then they have to honour it.

    1. Heard a first mention of the fiver invalidity last night at the Cinema. No more old fivers at Cineworld please! Just the new blue film strips!
