what did you do in spring as kids?

Did you do anything specail in Spring as a kid?

With the return of snowdrops, daffodils and sunlight did you do anything in particular after the dark arms of winter let you loose?

Maybe playing out again? Maybe biking again? Starting that new den? Getting certain toys out?

What did you do readers?

  1. In my grade school years,Spring meant Little League baseball.Practice would be around 6:00 p.m. on weekdays at the school ballfield or Saturdays at 2:00 p.m. at a gravel pit in my neighborhood. That same gravel pit was used in later years when my brother and I had motorcycles. We weren't supposed to ride there, but the local cops were fairly lenient and sometimes looked the other way.As a teen,a good chance to make money in springtime was planting blueberry plants.Hammonton NJ was and still is a major exporter of blueberries.

    1. sounds idyllic Brian. Do you and brother still play out together? I love blueberries I must say. I've just had some pancakes and a few blueberries would have gone down a treat!

  2. Well, at 50(and my brother at 52) we find spare time to walk the trails at one of the many parks and nature preserves in our area. Also flea markets are a fun thing to do together.

    1. Sounds like a man after my own heart. Early VHS is all but gone from fleamarkets and boot sales here in Blighty. I!m glad I started collecting in the nineties when there were still plenty around.
