I recall using the indoor staircase a lot.
It was great for watching slinky's and superballs go down the steps. I loved how rubber balls gathered power as they bounced several times!
I also used it as a set for my Action Man squad particularly climbing exercises or hillside warfare. The banisters were great for attaching the mountaineer ropes to and hauling AM up.
I can just about remember zooming die-cast cars off the landing down the stairs but this seems drastic to me now!
We also had an intercom running down the stairwell. It was one of those sets of plastic dial telephones. I used to ring up Mum on the ground floor and ask what was for tea! ha ha.
Did you play on the stairs?
Not only did I play on the stairs (with Slinky and Superball too), Woodsy, I've still got one of those telephone sets (red) in its box in a cupboard. Still works too. (The 'phones AND the cupboard.)
ReplyDeleteOh wow Kid. Now that's a cool thing, a boxed working toy telephone set. Forget your iPhone, get those out of that cupboard. Who knows who's on the other end!
