Ta Paul. Summer seems ages now but Spacex and sunshine go together really well. I wonder if they the toys were often played with outside when they came out or where they mostly indoors. I bet some even made it to school!
Certainly in during the Summer holidays of 1968 my SpaceX; Hawk, Needleprobe, Space Patrol, P3 Helicopter, P1 Cricket and Mobile HQ craft all made it out to the garden for many missions which also included pretty high speed tethered flights too. And yes there were some crashes as well!
Sounds like a fab summer with those high speed Spacex missions and crashes. I also loved involving the plastic vehicles which Airfix released like their Alvis. Glory days for sure!
I remember as a nine-year-old kid, just how special those SpaceX toys looked in their packages, sitting in the glass edged counters at my local Woolworths store in Richmond Surrey. My friend put a weight on one of his Golden Astronauts and sank it in a tin of golden syrup to simulate the fatal effects of walking across a space-swamp!
Yep, know what you mean Lewis. I turned nine in 1969 and the space race was everywhere. Spacex allowed us to have our own NASA missions. That golden syrup adventure is a good one. Ha ha. What were the astronauts called? Tate and Lyle? Ha ha.
great shots and wonderful toys. dreaming of summer already? Gosh, it's still 11 days 17 hours 8 minutes and 30 seconds 'til Christmas!!! (but who's counting?) :-)
Lovely shots, Bill! Lovely line-up, Woodsy! And a brilliant moonscape too.
