THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO: THE HEXPERT

The latest episode of Thunderbirds are Go, The Hexpert by Kevin Rubio and Charlotte Fullerton , begins with nuclear physicist Prof. Alice Lungram talking to a holographic image of  her colleague, Calloway, who’s  attending a conference on the other side of the world. Alice is working on an Anti-Matter Nuclear Reactor.  

Suddenly the containment field is compromised and Alice needs to sort it. She enters the two security doors which protect the outside world from the unstable aspects of the Reactor. As she attempts to stabilise the Reactor from inside the containment field, things go terrible wrong, and Prof. Alice isn’t fast enough to get out, ending up locked in the Reactor room with an unstable core! 

Parker is the star player in this tale, as his allegedly nefarious past appears to well known by the Global Defence Force, and he’s the only one who is capable of opening up this ‘vault of death’!  

To be honest, this episode didn’t really hold my attention that much. We’ve already seen several previous episodes having a lone woman in charge of a vast complex when everything suddenly goes Pete Tong, then having to rely on the Tracy Brothers to save the situation.

   As a bit of a twist Fab 1 is flagged down by two armoured cars and a massive air transporter being directed by Col. Casey of the G.D.F.  It would have probably been easier to phone, but not half as visually exciting!

Lady Penelope is ready to help, but Col. Casey wants the unique talents of Parker.

While it wouldn’t be fair to give away any plot points, I found the whole story quite linear, and straightforward.  Although the characters kept reiterating what terrible things might happen, I have to say I didn’t feel any real sense of urgency.

There are comedic moments, when the G.D.F. drops in at Lady Penelope’s mansion, only to chased away by her pug, Sherbet!

We got a Hint of Parker’s darkly past exploits including a spell as a seagoing pirate, before changing his ways after meeting Lady Penelope’s late father!

I’m sure a lot of you will no doubt enjoy lots of aspects of this episode,  of which there is many fun points, but I’m afraid this one just didn’t float my boat.
