  1. Looks fab that Scoop! So you weren't on the naughty list! Do you like Vivid's new creations as much as the 1990's incarnations?

    1. Managed to stay off the naughty list,Woodsy.

I love the Vivid toys. A reasonable size, nicely detailed and fairly accurate. Can't wait for the new Fab 1 and Thunderbird S.

  3. Sorry guys, but that's nasty! I mean...what IS that? Compared to the original...it looks like something the Russians would build to clear reindeer puke off an ice highway...nasty...now you've killed my memories quite so effectively would you also jump up and down on my dreams? Nasty - I tells'yer!

    1. Ooh! Doesn't float your boat then Hugh! I reckon in spite of its more angular form it's not too far removed from the original, but your opinion is just as good as mine, and there's nothing wrong in being honest.

    2. I guess Hugh wouldn't be enamoured with the opinion of Dave Cook; my colleague from Celtica Radio.

Cooky genuinly thinks that the new versions are better than the originals, the whole production is better than the original and enjoys it more than the original! - Dave will be 60 this summer... Which would have made him nine years old when Thunderbirds first hit the screen. Indeed his only complaint is that each episode is only 22 minutes long.

Personally, I like both equally and I'm three years younger than Cooky... Let's not forget, the makers of this new series wanted to make it as a full continuation, with pretty much the same everything, but confirmed that it was ITV who overruled this proposal!

So I guess we can blame the legal people. I've always said that Shakespeare had the right idea, pity it can't be done!

    3. Considering Cooky's age it sounds like his views are fairly unique, but just like Hugh's, all welcome. Personally, the original series will always be best in my eyes, but I'm enjoying the new series, in a kind of an interested bystander way. I like the updated designs, but certainly don't prefer them to the originals (although I'm still not totally sure about Thunderbird 3, and Thunderbird 1's stubby wings!) To sum up, I was talking to a ten-year old youngster at a family do the other day. I was pleased to hear his favourite TV show was Thunderbirds are Go - now, that's what counts!

  4. You're right Scoop. That reminds me of when I was in the entertainer getting the Thunderbirds 1 to 4 set; and there was a little boy with his parents buying the outfit. He was really excited but just kept on asking where the hat was!

He looked quite disappointed when he was told there isn't one! Personally I think the copyright and regulations people are to blame.

But it's always the same, these people and ITV have a very arrogant attitude when it comes to the fans and the people who keep shows like Thunderbirds alive.

They completely discount us and indeed the real views of the general public, and just force their vision on us whether it's any good or not.

With an iconic creation like thunderbirds, one has to be very careful. It would have been better it they had made it for a full family audience, so many of the restrictions for kids TV would not apply. Plus the meddling of lawyers regarding the creative freedom didn't help either.

I personally enjoy it for what it is and ignore the plot holes and bits of incompatibility with the old series in the way I used try to ignore those annoying strings! - At least I don't have them to spoil my viewing.

Your photos look absolutely lovely and reminiscent of the thunderbird four they sailed up the Thames!

    1. Sadly, it's all about demographics thesedays and aiming at the target audience,Bill. When the new Thunderbirds started ITV did want to treat the old and new series as completely separate entities (which is probably why the classic Thunderbirds hasn't be shown recently as I suppose, ironically it could be seen as in competition)
I like your Thunderbird 4 Thames reference. That never occurred to me till now : D
