GUMBALL FLYING SAUCER CHARM AND VENDING FRIENDS

I loved vending charms as a nipper. Did you call them charms readers or gumball toys maybe?

Above is a good carded set I saw online. I can see the orange flying saucer top left, which I think is one of the UFO premiums range or similar as piccied below:

What else is in there readers?

  1. Just seen a tiny torch in there, a skateboard, a TV and a burp ball.

  2. My brother and I called them quarter machine toys, as that was how much they cost at the time. Looks like there are possible another two space ships in the upper right corner. I never got anything as cool as a space ship, but there was always something interesting. It was my experience that the card in the front of the machine was misleading. They often showed really cool items on the card, but the actual contents were often totally different....the old "bait and switch"!

    1. Hi James. welcome on board. Quarter machine toys sounds like a cool name. Sounds right about the card in front being better than the stuff inside! Typical eh, ripping off us kids! Yes, I can see a silver spacraft in the right hand corner too,. The thing I thought was a TV is actually a robot with a chest screen. There's two of them. As for the muscular men, are they Ultraman or maybe Mexican wrestlers?
